BBEG in BX There is no Orcus in BX. There is no Strahd, no Acererak, there are no Evil Elemental Princes, no Vecna, no Kas. The only BX BBEG that would threaten a higher level party that I can think of is The Master from X4 and X5, and I’m not so sure that he is not a villain from that odious perversion, BECMI 😉 . Apart from a lack of legendary villains, if you look at the rules – both Basic and Expert – there a few monster options that lend themselves to making a campaign-central, plotting, scheming, malicious and dangerous BBEG.
